ABOUT AFRICA AGENDA

19 YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY!

Greetings,

On December 11, 2023, Africa Agenda marked 19 years of our existence as an organization. For almost two decades our organization has tackled many challenges, albeit fearlessly.

Our successes — measured, not in how much money we have sitting in the bank — but in how people view, and treat the African continent, and respond to the needs of the community— are many and continue to be impactful. In summary, today, we have partnerships with several colleges and universities in the US. We’ve graduated many students through our journalism internship programs, and we continue to forge ahead with the Annual Africa Summit, as well as with our Africa News Matters website.

In the course of our history, we’ve held over 200 Africa-related events, with more than 5,000 participants in these events. Speakers at our events have included leading opinion, civil society & business leaders from more than a dozen countries. Africa Agenda has spearheaded initiatives to expand democracy and development, including the Cameroon Information and Education Day in 2009, as well as the 2023 Africa Agenda Democracy Summit. Each year we receive more than 500 phone calls and hundreds of emails requesting Africa-related information and advice.

We know we have barely begun to strengthen understanding and building real bridges to the African continent!

Please consider helping us out by donating or volunteering. If you’d like to donate, the link to give is HERE.

Nothing is too small! Again, please make a contribution to support our work!

Sincerely, George Bamu
Founder & Executive Director

ABOUT THE 2024 AFRICA SUMMIT

The 2024 African Agenda Summit – Engaging Africa — will be an opportunity to celebrate and weave a robust community that can connect across the challenges of distance, language, and a scarcity of information.

In the great words of South African musician Johnny Clegg, “We are the scatterlings of Africa.” Whether we were born there or just consider ourselves part of the greater community of Africa, we are part of community that can and is making a difference.

This year’s Africa Agenda Summit will focus on ways that we can all personally connect or improve the ways for everyone to connect. We will count on great discussions with many local leaders who are building these transcontinental bridges and have a chance to develop our own ideas and opportunities.
