Africa Agenda is delighted to invite you to a dynamic dinner dialogue, the fourth Africa Summit in Colorado, “The Media as Bridge: Setting Priorities for Accurate Reporting on Africa.”

Are you perplexed? In January the President of the United States called ALL African countries s**holes.

  • How did we get to this state of affairs?
  • Is the media—social media and traditional journalism—failing us when it comes to reporting on Africa?
  • How can we change the blind spots, omissions, and outright lies about an entire continent, 54 countries, and over a billion people?

Join us for an evening of envisioning how to build a better media that will bridge the chasm separating us from Africa.

Setting Agendas for Real News about Africa /Improving Africa Reporting

This year’s Summit will be a fun and meaningful night of great discussion. You will join journalists, political, nonprofit, and business leaders, and other specialists on Africa, choosing from more than ten in-depth table topics, to explore the challenge of African news and craft news agendas to benefit both Africans and Americans.

We will take your suggestions and share them with news media, bloggers, and journalists across the U.S. and in Africa—featuring them on our Africa News Matters website!

The Africa Summit provides one of the few opportunities in Denver to network and strengthen connections with Africa and the African diaspora. And it is a rare event that brings us together to understand, solve, and act on a problem that affects us all.

Jovan Mays, former Aurora-Colorado Poet Laureate, is the keynote speaker

The summit will feature some of the best African cuisine and entertainment in the state.

As a special bonus, we will also announce its first “Best in Africa Reporting” Award.
